About

After more than 20 years of its history the Jewish community of Kazan has made its way from an action group, which wanted to unite Jews of the city, to a big non-profit organization with many regular projects and its own volunteering center Atikva. All these projects could not be done without the help of volunteers. The most active of them organize their own projects and curate new fields of activities.

A group of volunteers, including myself, regularly goes to the hospice at the Angela Vavilova Foundation with various master classes and performances. We are trying to brighten up the lives of children and parents.

The idea of volunteering came to me when I was admitted to a medical university, but my inner voice told me that I had to study hard at university and it would be difficult to study and volunteer at the same time. But when I learned more about the activities of the medical volunteers, namely, visiting the hospice, I changed my opinion.

When it happens that the disease got someone who is close to you, then you can’t stand to see someone who is ill, because the desire to help people is really strong. This happened to me. The desire to help and receive joy from the fact that your efforts are accepted with gratitude is the main reward for me. I bet it is hard work. Not everyone is capable of that. When you come home after the hospice, you feel emptiness, exhaustion, but after a while you feel yourself alive! And it’s a miracle! You feel revived and you are full of energy; you have a desire to create, move forwards – all these advantages of volunteering stimulate you to do good deeds! Children at the hospice have a truly bright and pure soul – they feel glad when you smile, touch them or just because you are here. I want to come back there, help them and give them happiness and joy.

I go to the hospice every week on a certain day – kids quickly get used to people and want to see them again. In addition to spending time with children, volunteers organize events, actions in support of the hospice, and just holidays for both the children who are sick and the adults. You can try yourself as an animator, singer, artist, or simply as an organizer – everyone will be very happy about any help!

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. You should at least try it.

During two years I attend the Youth Club “Afifon”. All the guys there are very steep and it is cool to spend time with them, but I have never noticed that they go somewhere for sports. For example, to try themselves in football, basketball, or somewhere else!
And I really wanted to organize the guys that they defeat among themselves, that would be very cool.
Why am I in the volunteering?
Because it is cool, and if the topic is interesting, as sport for example, so I get much pleasure of it. To promote the healthy lifestyle and, moreover, you can spend more time with good people!
Why is volunteering important?
I don’t know the answer to this question, but I can tell about myself, that if people do something, then they like it, besides volunteering helps to bring many new acquaintances and friendships that will be very useful for you in the future.

I do volunteer work from the year 2013. I used to work only on sporting events such as the Universiade, the fire of the Olympics, the WORLD CUP for fencing etc. The volunteering has helped me in finding new friends, to communicate and in the practice of foreign language. Now, working in the community, I’m starting to get interested in the volunteering of its other side : the help to the older people and children. I madly please to be helpful in this mortal world and I try to help, to do good things and to be always in the center of events. 🙂
And the relevance of this issue now is quite high because people will always act to the effect of “Tom Sawyer”: one started, the others I want to do it, too. Here is no exception, when people saw and are interested in such a thing as volunteering, they immediately want to be involved in everything that is connected to this beautiful case as volunteering. Everybody began to help, and to work together for the benefit of the humanity, and so on.
Plus, it must never be forgotten about the fact that people will always compete with those who are similar to them and when someone sees that his friend/rival/teammate turns out to work the volunteer better, more and qualitative, so then this someone begins to pursue higher goals and in volunteering too

My name is Pauline and I love all the options of lovely diminished variants of my name. I have the Smooth surname from all, so I am Gladkaya.
I am 18, so my age is constantly looking for the adventure, and that is why each year it tends to vary:)
The first time I started the volunteering in 2013, dreaming about it for several years. Now I can’t imagine my life without this unique opportunity to help our world in general and in particular to someone. Helping the others, I feel some unspeakable and indescribable emotions that I had just called happiness and joy.
